WordCraft 是 storytold 团队用纯 Rust 从零手写的文字处理软件，对标 Microsoft Word，是”重写一切”全家桶里最晚发布的（10 月 7 日），目前处于 alpha 阶段——官方自评：Ribbon 功能命令覆盖 88%，距离完全替代 Word 约 60%。

WordCraft is a from-scratch, pure-Rust word processor by the storytold team, aimed at Microsoft Word — the last-launched of the “rewrite everything” suite (Oct 7) and currently in alpha. The team’s own assessment: 88% Ribbon command coverage, roughly 60% of the way to fully replacing Word.

Key capabilities:

• Word-style Ribbon workflow: shortcuts and behaviors aligned with Word, low migration cost
• Format compatibility: reads/writes .docx (OOXML), handles .odt/.rtf/.html/.md/.tex/.txt, imports legacy .doc, exports PDFs with optional text layer
• Academic writing: track changes, comments, spell check; table of contents, footnotes, citations (APA/MLA/Chicago/IEEE); mail merge
• Multilingual UI: 19 languages including Simplified and Traditional Chinese
• Agent-ready: 422 agent-drivable commands + MCP server — AI can handle your document formatting too

One caveat: it’s alpha, so test complex long documents on a copy first. Everyday writing, layout, and citations already work — a few more iterations and that’s one more Office subscription you can cancel.
